Historic tour in Linz
The tour started at the Mariendom, where we learned many interesting facts
about the architecture and famous Austrians like the composer Anton Bruckner
or the founder of the JKU, Johannes Kepler.
Austrians largest church is quite young, in 2024 the cathedral celebrated
its 100th anniversary. The Mariendom is even larger than St. Stephen’s cathedral.
After the destruction of the Stephansdom during World War 2, every province
contributed its share for the reconstruction, so the Upper Austrians moulded
the famous bell called “Pummerin” with an incredible height of 2,9 m,
whose contour we could admire in front of the federal government.
We enjoyed a beautiful view from the Schlossmuseum over Linz to Pöstlingberg,
which is also known as the Beverly Hills of Linz.
The tour was very interesting and we learned a lot – History and English.
